EXPORT TO INDIA

Important information for exporting to India

The domestic market has been valued at 25 billion Euros (Source: UBIFRANCE NEW DELHI). India has the youngest population in the world (65% below 35 years old) and number of women who work is increasing along with purchasing power.
The middle class represents 200 million people with exteriorised consumption similar to the western model (brand awareness, awareness of the variety and quality of the product).

Important steps in this direction have been taken: the switch from ‘made-to-measure' to ‘ready-to-wear', the arrival of international brands, and the creation of the first department store chains and distributor brands.

Whilst taking these changes into consideration, Indian brands are creating their own chains (Raymond, Arvind Mills…) and signing licensing contracts with international brands.

For those who wish to export to India , it is worth mentioning that there are 500 shopping centres in big Indian cities (New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore) and medium sized cities (Pune Chandigarh, Jaipur…).
